Printed vs. Electronic Rosters

We currently use printed rosters in our Kid and Student Ministries. We are contemplating switching to electronic rosters but have a few hurdles to get over before we can make that change. We average just shy of 250 children and teens each Sunday morning.

For those of you that are already using electronic rosters how do you inform your leaders/teachers of allergies or special behaviors? Our MS and HS teens do not checked in at our label kiosks so there is no medical note on their tags to communicate if they have an allergy.

We also saw limitations on how the teachers can contact the parents if there was an issue with their child.

We are also concerned with how reliable electronic rosters would be in the case of a fire and we needed to evacuate the building. Has anyone tested this to see if you can still see the electronic roster attendance without an internet/wi-fi connection?

Any guidance on this is appreciated!
